As a loose collector, displaying my figures is a big part of my hobby. For the most part, I have all of my figures lined up on bookshelves. Over time, though, they’ve accumulated and space is becoming more and more an issue. At first, I ignored the original display stands that came with the first series of Mattel figures. I just felt they took up too much space and didn’t really need them. However, when I heard that Matty Collector was offering a new set of stackable display stands, I was curious about them. After seeing the pics of the full set, I decided to get one to try out. They came in the traditional Matty white mailer box with no special packaging inside.
This set comes with four pieces: Two short stands and two tall ones. Each one is made to hold three figures and I thought it was nice that they were designed to look like the original figure stands. These stands are pretty much elevated versions of the old stands, fused together in three's. This is nice for those who want to use their original stands along with these new ones!
Using them is pretty intuitive but there are instructions on the side of the mailing box to explain how the short and tall pieces connect together. The connecting clips on the larger pieces are located inside and you just push them out to attach to the smaller stands. When not in use, you can push the clips back inside so that they're not intrusive. It's a simple, but effective design!
Another nice feature to these stands is that they are stackable. This could be handy if you want to create a larger, tiered display. Using the set provided, you can display anywhere from three (One REALLY tall stand!) to twelve figures.
I prefer the basic setup of one small stand attached to the larger one. It looks nice and I really like that you can display an entire Elite or Basic series on it. You can use these to catalog your collection by series, display your champions, or just set your favorite figures in a special display!
Overall, it's a neat accessory for collectors who want to spruce up their displays and keep things organized. Personally, I'd like Matty to expand these stands to include several different colors, like red (Raw), blue (Smackdown), and gold (Legends) stands for even more display versatility!
