I got my set of TNA Micro Impact Series 2 today from RSC! I didn't think they'd be out for a few more months, so I'm glad to see them out early:
Here's Sting, RVD, and Jeff Jarret:
A set that I was waiting for: Beer Money Inc & The Blueprint, Matt Morgan:
Kevin Nash, Jay Lethal, and Eric Young:
The Immortals, Jeff Hardy, Hulk Hogan, and Abyss:
There were several repaints, which is something that looks like will be happening a lot with this series. Some of the repaints are an improvement, like the new Abyss. He looks far better than the shirtless one from Series 1. A couple didn't quite come out right, though, like Sting & Jeff Jarrett. Their attires were fine but their heads just looked weird or poorly painted.
Despite the repaints, we still get seven new micros and, for the most part, they're great. Beer money Inc, in particular, is very nicely done and, combined with a good rendition of the Blueprint Matt Morgan, is probably the best set of this series. Eric Young is a cool new addition but his head is slightly oversized.
Technically, the other three micros aren't entirely new; Jakks already made Jeffy Hardy, Hulk Hogan, and RVD for WWE's Micro Aggression series. I was expecting to see the old headsculpts reused but, to my surprise, Jakks created all new sculpts for them!
Jeff Hardy is a nice improvement from the old screaming scan and better captures his new Anti-Christ of Professional Wrestling heel image:
Hogan is also a big improvement. I thought his original micro was well done but this new scan is even better. Too bad his shirt didn't have any details but this version would make for a good NWO custom:
Sadly, RVD turned out to be one of the weakest in the set. The details on his attire are really good and his new headscan is not bad but, unfortunately, it's really oversized! It's worse than Eric Young and I wish they just stuck with his original scan this time:
Overall, it's still a good set and after seeing how good Beer Money Inc came out, I think it's a real shame that Series 3 and the 6-sided ring playset were cancelled!
